We have a brand new gunite pool. I first went to another closer pool store for my first chemical reading They recommended a huge amount of calcium to be added to my pool. I did as instructed. 10 days later I took a water sample to Splash and my calcium was WAAAAAY over 600 I had to drain and refill pool in 4-5 inch increments to total 7 inches as I drained, I refilled. Never draining below the water line tile. It took 4 times of doing this to get the calcium back to an acceptable range. 
Debbie Willard now has my pool balanced and it looks amazing. Beware of stores that want to SELL you something. She never tried to sell me anything. Only told me what I needed and if I didn't have it. I did purchase it from Splash. She fully explained EVERYTHING.
